The city of Flint (Mich.) pulled out of the Genesee County 911 center back in 1995 because of dissatisfaction with the service. They’ve considered returning to the consolidated operation a couple of times, but never pulled the trigger. Now, with a budget that’s even more out-of-balance, the city has begun talks with the county to return to the center. The talks have sparked apprehension among the city’s current dispatchers, who would have to re-apply for jobs with the county, officials say. Read more about the on-going talks here.
