The Public Safety Spectrum Trust (PSST) has voted to pursue a regional approach to using 10 MHz of spectrum to create a nationwide public safety communications network, according to an on-line story in Urgent Communications magazine. The Trust was established to administer the so-called “D Block” of spectrum put up for auction earlier this year, but which failed to sell. The Trust’s board believes more bids would be received if the wireless project were available in smaller pieces instead of as a single, nation-wide project. The magazine also notes that the PSST has scaled back its financial relationship with its advisor on the project, Cyren Call Communications, but no specific were provided.
