Google’s development of its on-line mapping application was just the first step–thousands of users have adapted and modified the application to display a wide range of geo-information. The latest development is the HeyWhatsThat Web site that allow you to enter a geographic coordinate, and then have the map display surrounding geo-features that are visible from that spot. Sounds boring, right? Actually, it’s an amazing display, not only for the ordinary person who wants to know what they can see from the top of Jackson Peak, but also for radio-types who want to see line-of-sight coverage from a peak, mountain or tower. Surf the site to view locations that have already been analyzed, or click on the “New panorama” tab to create your own new analysis. Once it’s done, click on the “Visibility cloak” button to see the line-of-sight coverage.
