Political Donation Raises Conflict Question

A $1,000 political campaign donation by radio manufacturer Motorola has raised issues about the $37 million purchase of a radio system by the Metropolitan Emergency Communications Agency that serves Indianapolis and Marion County (Ind.). The company made the donation to the campaign of Beech Grove mayor Joe Wright, who is chairman of the MECA. But Wright said the donation came one year after the agency made its decision to award Motorola the radio system contract.
