Chiefs Criticize Radio System…and More

The radio system used by several public safety agencies in Jefferson County (WV) has several problems, according to several police chiefs, including bad coverage, inter-radio blocking and poor intelligibility when there is background noise. They also say that county 911 director Jeff Polczynski isn’t any help, since he doesn’t attend periodic chiefs’ meeting to discuss the issue. But Polczynski says he’s often busy with other job responsibilities, and the chiefs’ meeting focus on other topics, not the radio system. Read more about the criticism here. Then read another story about the comm center not checking for warrants, and this story about a plans for a new county comm center. Update: Read Polczynski’s response to the newspaper articles here.
