Village Says They Won’t Pay Increase

The Bosque Farms (NM) Village Council says it won’t pay the increased fee being charged by the regional public safety comm center, especially since they’re not happy with the service in general. The center says its expenses have increased, and that they’re merely asking participating jurisdictions to help cover those costs. The village now pays $48,000 a year, but the first proposed increase could raise that to $67,123 if three dispatch positions are funded. Bosque Farms mayor Wayne Ake told the village board, “This dispatch is totally out of hand, and they’re doing a terrible job.” He said he’s called twice for service and the dispatcher argued with him both times.
