Editorial Argues ‘Health’ Issue

After union officials Allegany County (Md.) proposed that dispatchers should begin working 12-hour shifts to better cover position vacancies, the Cumberland Times-News newspaper ran an editorial saying that any staffing solution, “should not be done at the expense of dispatchers’ health.” The newspaper noted that, “The dispatcher’s job is a tough one, with little room for error.” The editorial urged that when union and county officials meet, “Their top concern should be how to avoid dispatcher burnout and disenchantment.” Read the entire editorial here.
