The family of a man killed in a 2001 hit-and-run accident has reached a settlement with former Staunton (Virg.) dispatcher Richard Broschinski for $200,000. According to the lawsuit, Broschinski fielded a 911 call reporting that a man had been hit by a car while walking along a roadway after celebrating his 38th birthday at a club. The victim, Jody Swisher, was thrown into a ditch next to the roadway. Broschinski allegedly failed to dispatch any emergency units, later saying he thought the call was a prank. The body was discovered the next morning. Read more about the settlement here.
