A long story in the Houston Chronicle newspaper points out that Houston is not a member of the huge, 249-member Harris County regional radio network, creating some public safety communications issues. The article notes that 11 of the region’s 13 counties participate in the system to help improve inter-agency communications. The city apparently is ready to spend its own $100 million to built a new trunked radio system rather than join the regional network. Read the entire article here.
