The International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) has issued a report detailing recommendations on using digital radios in fireground situations. Based on 9 months of study, the recommendations take into account recent complaints from firefighters that digital encoding technology for radios does not clearly transmit voices when there is significant background noises such as sirens, chainsaws or alarms.
