Metro Indianapolis fire chiefs say the city’s recent conversion to digital radio technology is creating communications problems, and have asked the county’s radio agency for permission to stick with the older analog system. In a letter to the county, a group of chiefs complain that the digital voice encoder makes transmissions unintelligible when background noises are present, echoing the results of a just-released study of the issue.
