The head of New York state’s public safety department admits that results are “mixed” for a full operational test of the M/A-COMM radio system that might eventually cover the entire state. Michael Balboni said that tests in Chautauqua County had “great success” but that those in Erie only had “limited” success. Most problems relate to coverage, which apparently is highly dependent upon the geography of the area where the radios are used. Audio quality also is another problem encountered during the tests.
