Spectrum Needs All Point to ‘First Responders’

In his latest commentary, wireless analyst Andy Seybold wonders why applicants for new spectrum are always using the lever of “first responders” in their proposals to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Seybold asks if these companies are simply using public safety as a way to justify their request for spectrum, and warns that so many requests could end up jeopardizing the success of wireless systems that public safety actually does need.
