Dispatchers Have TV View of Intersections

Dispatchers in Knox County (Tenn.) now have a new way to keep track of traffic conditions at key intersections, so they can help route emergency units around traffic jams. The state’s Department of Transportation has supplied software and hardware to allow the dispatchers to control the selection of cameras for a network of existing intersection video cameras. Currently the dispatchers can’t pan/zoom the cameras, but that’s a feature that could be added, officials say. Read more about their system here.
