Tinley Park (Ill.) police dispatcher Nikki Hnatovic has given an interview with a Chicago TV station, recalling the 911 call she fielded from the manager of a Lane Bryant clothing store last February, just before the woman and four co-workers were shot and killed by a robber. One employee survived the attack. Hnatovic told the reporter that she immediately knew that employee Rhonda McFarland was in danger from the sound of her voice. The call lasted just 98 seconds, but even before it ended Hnatovic had dispatched an officer towards the store. “Nobody really wants to listen to someone in trouble, someone in pain, someone in heartache,” Hnatovic told the reporter. Hnatovic later met the surviving employee, an encounter that Hnatovic said was gut-wrenching. Watch the video and hear Hnatovic’s incredible story here.
