After 30 years of service to the Cary (NC) Police Department communications center, Sr. Emergency Communications OfficerKenneth Mann is retiring. Both the town and the comm center were a lot smaller when he started. The dispatcher area was just 10’x14′ and had a corner desk and two chairs. A Motorola base station radio for police and a second for fire/EMS. Mann says he’ll miss the excitement of the job, but significantly, he says he’ll also miss something else. “I’ll miss the aspect of knowing I made a difference, and I will miss the many faces I have worked with over the years. I will leave knowing that I have worked with a top-notch department and have completed a respectful career in emergency communications.”
