NENA Hires New CEO

The National Emergency Number Association (NENA) announced they have hired Brian Fontes, Ph.D. as its new chief executive officer, filling a vacancy created last August with the resignation of Robert Martin. Fontes was previously the vice president for federal relations at AT&T Services, Inc. He held a similar position at Cingular Wireless, and has also served at the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA), Federal Communications Commission, and International Telecommunication Union. He was inducted into the Wireless Hall of Fame in 2006 for his career in wireless telecommunications. In a press release, Fontes said, “I am honored to join NENA and become part of the 9-1-1 community, which plays a vital role in aiding the safety of lives and property.” NENA president Jason Barbour said, “His varied and unique skill sets make him the right man for this job.”
