A Sheboygan (Wisc.) police officer fired one shot from his patrol rifle and killed a man who had been reported as suicidal, setting off an investigation into the incident. The 47 year-old man’s daughter dialed 911 to report her father had a gun and was in the garage of their home. The man later got into a truck and drove around the block with the gun, but ended up back inside the garage. When he pointed a .22-cal. rifle at an officer, the officer fired. “I have no concerns. I don’t think that this is complicated,” said police chief David Kirk. “I feel that the officer acted with the proper police procedures in this matter.” Read the full story, ponder what information the dispatcher obtained–or could have obtained–and what tactics the officers might have used.
