The owner of a $100,000 truck-trailer is upset that Dallas (Tex.) police failed to promptly respond to his 911 call that the vehicle had just been stolen, and that they refused to locate the vehicle before it crashed into a parked car occupied by a woman and her children. Tom Thompson dialed 911 to report that the 40-foot landscaping truck had been taken, and told reporters the dispatcher would only commit to sending an officer to take a report. The suspect crashed the truck and fled 11 minutes later, and police were dispatched to the original stolen vehicle call 36 minutes after that.
