Missouri Legislature Throttles Radio Plan

A Missouri legislative committee has cut back money for a proposed statewide public safety radio network, and added restrictions on how the money can be spent, sparking criticism from state public safety director Mark James, who noted the highway patrol is still using tube-type radio transmitters. Last year a consultant estimated a radio network would cost up to $226 million to build, and up to $23 million to maintain annually. But the proposal asked for $175 million over 10 years, a plan the legislators questioned. Read more about the political action here.
