San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom dropped by the city’s police-fire comm center yesterday after leading reporters on a tour of the adjacent emergency operations center that was just refurbished. His appearance came just days after the San Francisco Chronicle revealed on-going delays in EMS responses. He promised more comm center staffing and a study of how to improve response times. And how was the mayor received by the dispatchers? Check this photo that shows Newsom shaking hands with a dispatcher, who apparently has no time to talk with him (notice the crook in her neck). On the other hand, there is an NTW banner on the wall in the background, although it appears to have been posted by the dispatchers’ union. Read a story here.
