Town Celebrates Special NTW

As we begin the annual celebration of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, the town of Old Bridge (NJ, pop. 70,000) has many reasons to honor its dispatchers. Certainly its their everyday efforts to handle the mundane and the ordinary tasks. But it’s also to recognize the more urgent issues that arise in an day. The town’s recognition this year is also for the critical incidents that occur infrequently, and which prove they have a very dedication group of dispatchers that truly help save lives. This year, the dispatchers have a special reason for NTW: they will honor dispatcher Libby Conover Flynn, who died in May, 2007, shortly after receiving a “9-1-1 Heroes” award during last year’s Spring NENA conference. Next month they will dedicate a memorial to her 17 years of service. See more about how the town is honoring its dispatchers here.
