The recently-concluded FCC auction of spectrum for a nationwide public safety radio network has generated lots of opinions, discussion and even accusations. Since the auction touched so many stakeholders, much of the discussion is among people with no direct public safety connections, but who would still be affected by the FCC’s actions. Art Broksky, communications director for the public interest group Public Knowledge, has written a piece that public safety “shot itself in the foot” with its actions and decisions in the matter. Brodsky writes from a particular viewpoint, but nonetheless has some interesting points. Read his perspective here.
