Sprint-Nextel continues to make progress on the monumental 800 MHz rebanding project intended to eliminate interference between their transmitters and public safety agencies using trunked radio systems. The company and FCC lawyers just gave oral arguments in federal court in support of their positions over an appeal Sprint filed to a 2007 deadline that it missed. In an on-line RCR News article, Sprint-Nextel said 95% of the licensees for Phase I returning has retuned their radios, all of SouthLINC’s channels have been retuned, and for Phase II, 100 licensees have retuned, and another 500 of the 900 non-border licensees have signed agreements to retune.
