Daycare Center Runs Afoul of Alarm Rules

A Yarmouth (Nova Scotia) daycare center racked up 22 false burglar alarms over several months, which contributed to a miscommunication is handling an alarm. A daycare worker arrived in the morning and heard the alarm sounding. She dialed 911, and an RCMP dispatcher told her officers would respond. However, when they didn’t show up, she dialed the local RCMP detachment, and the dispatcher told her to check the building herself, and call back if anything was amiss. The woman and another worker did that, and found an open back door. RCMP officials say they received the alarm themselves, and the two sources made them believe an officer was enroute.
