‘We Need People’ Is Center’s Plea

Nashville’s (Tenn.) Emergency Communications Center is facing a staffing shortage, according to a TV report. There are 36 vacancies at the center, mostly dispatchers, the report notes, requiring some dispatchers to work 30 hours of overtime a week–all voluntary so far. “It’s just always, ‘We need people, we need people, we need people,'” dispatcher Troy Critese told the TV reporter. Public safety hasn’t been jeopardized by the shortage, officials say. But read and watch the report here.
