Dispatcher Honored for International Call

A St. Clair County (Ill.) dispatcher was honored by the E9-1-1 Institute for her handling of a 911 call that was made from a military base in Korea. Patricia Michaels fielded the call in March 2007 from a woman who was using a VoIP telephone connection linked to her former home in Illinois. She reported a domestic violence situation at her apartment in Seoul with her husband, who was in the military. Michaels contacted nearby Scott Air Force Base, and then stayed on the phone for 45 minutes to help the woman. Read more about Michaels’ honor here.
