Lancaster County (Penn.) commissioners voted Tuesday to pull out of the state’s M/A-COMM radio network after spending some $13.8 million, saying it’s taken too long and has been too expensive. The county has apparently been shopping for another company, and commissioners hope to have a public safety radio system completed within two years. The county signed a contract in 2000 hoping to save money, but now portable radios cost $8,874, eliminating some of the savings the county originally expected. Read more about the pull-out here.
