Frankfort (Ken.) is losing a veteran dispatcher: Sr. Telecommunicator Donna Roberts is retiring after 27½ years. She began her career in 1980 when she was 24 years-old, and told a reporter, “I still love the work, but it’s time.” She’s had to handle 911 calls about her own family, and has listened to family fights, dispute and auto accident calls. She’s won’t sit still after retiring–she’s planning a 6-week trip to Europe with her 12 year-old daughter this summer. And then she’ll come home to find another job that’s closer than the 1-hour drive she has as a dispatcher. Read more here.
