For the fourth time since mid-December, fire has hit the home of a public safety dispatcher, this time Broome Count (NY) dispatcher Gary Lowe. The home was destroyed by the 5 a.m. fire and Lowe safely jumped from a ground-floor window. But his dog Dixie was was trapped inside and had to be rescued by firefighters. Lowe said the dog was unconscious when handed out a window of the burning home, but came around after a Superior Ambulance crew gave her oxygen. It’s the second home that Lowe has lost his home: June 2006 floods destroyed a previous home, trapping Dixie inside as Lowe was working. The dog was later rescued after treading water for several hours.
