Dispatchers in Benton County (Tenn.) are operating from month to month on their paychecks, after newly-elected sheriff Tony King contradicted the former sheriff and decided not to move dispatching operations to the Central Dispatch agency. King’s decision left his agency without funding for the center, and forces him to go to the county commissioners each month to ask for $30,000 for the payroll. The commissioners have been getting testy lately over King’s decision, but he says the timing is not right for a move. Read more about the situation here.
