Dispatchers, Dep. Director Have Different Math

The deputy director of San Francisco’s (Calif.) public safety comm center and at least some of the center’s dispatchers disagree on the math used to evaluate staffing levels at the center. An article in the the Examiner newspaper laid out that about 30 of the center’s 187 authorized positions are not filled. But a Web site posted by anonymous employees says the figure is really about 60 vacancies. Either way, 30 vacancies should be considered a major issue, the Web site says.
