Is Motorola Only A Radio Company Now?

The one-time hugely successful electronics company Motorola reported its latest financials, and its division that includes land mobile radio products reported the largest increase in sales, including the cellular handset unit. Overall, the company’s revenues were down 18% compared to the same quarter of last year, to $9.65 billion. Profit dropped 84% in the quarter, sending the stock down 19% in one day. The company’s Enterprise Mobility Solutions division, which includes sales of two-way radio products, reported sales of $3.5 billion, up 35% compared to last year’s quarter. On the other hand, the handset and Home and Mobility Networks divisions sales were down 38% and up 11% respectively, with sales of $4.8 billion and $2.7 billion.
