Canada Regulators Ponder 700 MHz

Canada’s spectrum regulatory agency is seeking comment on a proposal to align the country’s UHF-TV channels 63-69 for public safety frequencies with the existing U.S. public safety allocation. In a notice, Industry Canada (IC) noted the FCC’s actions to create a public safety block of spectrum, and that Canada has already designation channels 63/68 to public safety, leaving the decision on 64/69 to a later time. Now IC is asking if those two channels should be designated for public safety, and then, how those channels might be “harmonized” to work with the U.S. channels. Download (pdf) the IC Notice here.
