FCC Asks for 700 MHz Waiver Input

The FCC has issued a request for comments on a waiver request from Los Angeles County agencies asking to use frequencies in the Channel 15 TV (476-482 MHz) band for a region-wide public safety radio network. The frequencies would mesh with existing systems already used in adjacent TV channel bands. Interestingly, the FCC asks for comments, “particularly in light of the approaching February 17, 2009 digital television transition date, and the Commission’s recent actions in facilitating a nationwide, interoperable public safety network.” Download (pdf) the FCC’s request for comments here.
