Oakland County (Mich.) is in the midst of a $44 million radio project that began in 2002, and its completion has been hindered by a variety of issues. M/A-COMM is the primary contractor for the radio network, which surrounds the city of Detroit, and Orbacom has a sub-contract for the consoles. Work is underway to build radio towers and install new consoles, all based on IP technology that has been troublesome. Surf the project’s Web site, and download (pdf) this June, 2007 project status document for some interesting reading.
