A new $6 million joint city-county fire station/comm center in Bozeman (Mont.) will include improved security, more space and better amenities for employees. The building will sit behind an earthen berm for protection, and its windows will be bullet-resistant. The 5,000 square-foot comm center half of the building won’t connect to the adjacent firehouse, but will be the central point of communications for city and county emergency dispatching. There will be space for 8 consoles, supervisor offices and computer room. The facility will also include a “quiet room” for dispatchers when they’re on break or off-duty.
