Man Charged for Threats During 911 Call

Prescott (Ariz.) Unified School District board member Tom Staley has been charged with a misdemeanor count of making a false report of an emergency last June after he dialed 911 to report a fence dispute at a school. The dispatcher told Staley to call back on a non-emergency line, at which point Staley replied, “OK, I’m going to be pulling out a weapon … if that is not an emergency then let me know.” Staley later apologized to police and the dispatcher for making the call, saying he was frustrated over a property access situation at the school. Staley will appear in court Jan. 8th for arraignment, but a special prosecutor wouldn’t speculate on what sentence he would receive if convicted.
