Dispatchers watching Des Moines (Iowa) police officers chase a car at over 100 mph spotted an upcoming T-intersection and warned officers to back off. The vehicle being pursued blasted through the intersection, and the occupants fled after the car crashed, but before it burst into flames. The driver was caught by officers and charged with DUI, but the GPS automatic vehicle location (AVL) system was credited with preventing a more serious incident as the chase went into outlying Warren County.
