A District of Columbia council member dialed 911 to report an emergency, and now claims he was badgered by a dispatcher who didn’t listen to what he was saying. David Catania frequently repeated himself on the tape, demanded the dispatcher’s identity, and initially had trouble deciding if it was was a fire or police emergency. Listen to the logging tape of the call here, although it’s very difficult to make out because of poor audio. Janice Quintana, director of Office of United Communications, appeared before Catania at a public safety committee meeting and offered to play the logging tape, but Catania declined. She said the tape is being used for dispatcher training, and that the involved dispatcher was not disciplined. Read more about the call here.
