911 Call Released in Surgery Death

Los Angeles City Fire Department officials released an 8-minute logging tape of a 911 call made from the home of Donda West, 58, who was having cosmetic surgery performed at her home in that city. The caller reported West had gone unconscious. The call then documents the repetition of every question that the LAFD dispatcher tried to ask the woman, who could barely be heard on a speaker phone. When paramedics arrived, West could not be revived. She was the mother of singer Kanye West, and the incident has spotlighted the practice of elective surgery.
