Man Sentenced For Phony Radio Call

A Tauranga (New Zealand) man has been sentenced to 40 hours of community service after he used a police car radio to make a phony “officer needs help” radio call. Jordan Wadley, 22, pleaded guilty in court to the charge–not his first encounter with police. Police said an officer responded to a domestic dispute involving Wadley, and offered him a ride home. As Wadley sat in the patrol car and the officer stepped out to deal with a drunk woman, Wadley reached down, took the radio microphone and made the phony “help” transmission, which brought police to the scene. Last month Wadley was arrested for shooting off fireworks that set off a security alarm, bringing police to the scene. He was arrested in that incident, too.
