Do-Everything Dispatcher Retires

A story in the Kennebec Journal (Maine) newspaper says that Sharon DesVeaux is retiring from the Winslow Police Department after 34 years as administrative assistant and dispatcher. She began in 1973 with one police car, two radios and a typewriter, keeping track of everyone and everything at the police department. Almost every case that officers handled was typed, dispatched or tracked by the 64 year-old DesVeaux. She plans to spend more time with her husband and grandchildren. Read more here.
