Citing a better job offer, Cumberland County 911 Center chief Wade MacFarland has resigned his post even as the county is fielding official union complaints about his management of the center. MacFarland has been director for two years, and recently employees have complained to their union about pay, uniforms and the poor condition of equipment. Neither union nor county officials would divulge specific complaints, but said that a meeting to discuss the issues was scheduled. The center’s previous director was fired after officials sustained charges that he used profane language at the center and created a 911 system glitch.
