A citizen’s 911 call was the first notice to dispatchers that a Broward County (Fla.) sheriff’s deputy had been shot by a prisoner and killed. “I just saw a police officer just fall down from his van,” a female caller said. Arriving units found Dep. Paul Rein fatally wounded by the prisoner he was transporting to court. The suspect was later arrested near Hollywood (Fla.) when a pawn shop employee recognized him from TV news reports and dialed 911 to report it. Listen to all the 911 calls here.
