Sheriff: Visit Center, Get Arrested

Camden County (Geo.) sheriff Bill Smith has issued a warning to county commissioners–if any of them come to his comm center, he’ll have them arrested. The sheriff’s threat came after the commissioners voted to take away operation of the center from the sheriff because of on-going budget problems. Smith has proposed an $8.3 million 2008 budget, but the commissioners decided to give him $1 million less and move the comm center into separate agency. The sheriff went to court and received a ruling that his contract to 2010 prevents the county from taking over the center. Read more about the on-going dispute here.
