A Topeka (Kan.) dispatcher who received a 911 call from a mother reporting her 15 year-old son had been struck by a car decided not to send an ambulance to the scene. Instead, the unnamed dispatcher telephoned the youth himself to obtain direct information, and the boy said he was “okay.” Now the mother is angry that no one responded to the scene, and says the city’s 911 system is unreliable. A KTKA-TV reporter questioned 911 director Bill Singer about the incident in a report, which you can watch here.
