Councilman Dials 911…Roughly

A Portsmouth (Virg.) city council member is being criticized by police after he dialed 911 to report an auto accident and told the calltaker, “I want an officer out here now. OK? Or else.” Ray Smith called the police after his daughter had already dialed 911 to report having an auto accident. The daughter simply said she had exchanged information with the other driver, but not that her father believed the information was false. Ray Smith called shortly after to identify himself as a council member, and to demand an officer respond. Read more and listen to the 911 calls here. Also catch how the dispatcher puts the daughter on hold momentarily.
