The Gazette of Montreal (Quebec) profiled the city’s 911 center, noting they handle 4,500 calls to 911 each day, analyze what’s needed and then forward them to one of 30 different agencies for handling. They strive for a 45-second handling time, officials say, with from 6 to 11 operators on-duty. About 57% of the calls are law enforcement-related, and another 14% requesting EMS help.
