Mother Arrested in Death of Infant

A Harnett County (NC) mother has been arrested and charged with murder in the death of her 11 month-old baby daughter. Sheriff’s deputies responded to the home after Michelle Heuser dialed 911 to report the infant missing since the previous night. The dispatcher kept the mother on the line until deputies arrived. They searched the house and finally found the tiny girl in the attic. An autopsy will hopefully determine the cause of death, officials said, but they believe the child had been dead for perhaps several weeks when Heuser dialed 911. She had told neighbors the child was with someone else, and gave the same story to her husband, who had just returned from duty in Iraq. Read a story and listen to the 911 call here.
